Phew! It's been a while since I have updated! We are well into September and life just has been SO BUSY! But I am going to back track to make sure I get all these pics up :) We had such a good summer, and we want to remember it! So picking up where I left off....the start of Wild 3!
Cassia came back for another week which we were all thrilled about - mostly this little girl!! Cassia came off the boat and she squealed and ran right to her. They were inseperable all week. Staff that come in and love on my kid and are really good with campers are my favorite kind. Q actually said to me during Wild 5 - "Mama, why do all my friends keep coming to camp and then leaving? I want them just to stay". She does so well in the summer with people coming and going and I am never sure if it really phases her... this was a pretty clear sign to me that by the end of summer she is tired of the constant turn over and that it does wear on her!
Calea and Aimee were out this week as the cook's - SO GOOD to have them with us for the week! Aimee obviously has been there tons and knows Wildside so well, but Calea has never been up before. It was fun to have her there. Our families really don't see us in action and don't really know what happens at camp, so any chance we get to show them, we jump all over! Next, we want Luke to come cabin lead, and Makenna as a camper!... a few more years! This was a child day and I was not eager to swim, but my water baby wanted to go in, so her aunties went with her. Best!Quinny played Murder Mystery with Jon - when kids would come up to him, he would make this growling noise and make them chase him... she started getting into it and would make a hilarious roaring noise at the kids too - I asked them to show me their "scary" faces and this is what she gave me. I was laughing so hard! What a funny kid!!! And she had to wear her hat because she wanted a "funny costume like Dad!"
Q was with KK and she had to pee... Calea tried to help her squat but doesn't have quite the same practice doing it as I do haha... Q peed on her foot. They walked over to me like this and I was laughing so hard I couldn't stand.
We had these two cute goofballs out for the week! It was fun to see them in a different element, at camp, but a different camp then they are used to. They were awesome
My mom rallied the troops at home and got everyone to pitch in for a present for Q's birthday, and they got her a kayak! What a crazy awesome gift! Mom and Trevor, Neil and Grandma Doris, Grandma and Grandpa, Cor and Ed, Colette and Chris, Eileen and Jim all pitched in! What a loved little girl. So many people, so much family, who all love her so much! The video of her seeing her kayak is awesome! She was pumped! She jumped in right away and wanted to take it out.
She has figured out how to turn the kayak by paddling on one side.. she does so well in this! She used it a ton and really loves it. It's a present that she will have for years and get a ton of use out of it! When you spend your summers on a lake, a kayak will get a ton of use!
Daddy showing her how to hold the paddle. It makes his heart VERY happy that she loves so many of the same things that he does. Adventurous kid!
Kayaking together! Love this. I love that she has a Dad who will do these things with her and will adventure with her.
I loved this picture of her, right in there playing games with the campers and staff. She knows that if she wants to play, she has to play by the rules and no one is going to cater to her. She wants to play still, so she learns fast!
These two are awesome. And their food was amazing. So so so lovely to have them and spend so much time together!!! They make a good duo together
I also love this kid. He just has such a special place in my heart. The Burdge's are family to us. It has been pretty awesome over the past 6 years to watch him grow up into a (almost!) teenager
These two texted me right after it happened to share their news - they are ENGAGED! I cried I was so happy. They are so good together and love each other so well and I am PUMPED for their wedding!
Canoe day! Wearing a hat just like Daddy with her little paddle, ready to go!
She went swimming when they played canoe games on the other side of the lake, and it was a chilly day and I didn't send her with extra clothes. So her Dad gave her his shirt and just wore his jacket... the things that parents do for their kids! haha!
An instagram post that Calea put up. So cute!
Her first mug-up! Usually she is in bed long before then, but I was talking that night at fireside, so she got to stay up, and oh man she was stoked about the yummy treats haha!Making Aimee laugh is so easy to do, and Q loves being silly and teasing her so they both giggle. It's pretty funny to watch... Q really bugs her and gets a good reaction out of her
And then later in the day, this sleeping beauty also made good use of my hammock and got a nap in
Brad came to visit one afternoon and Q was glued to his side
Jacob came up the same day at Bradley, and we hung out around the campfire for a bit that night once everyone went to bed. Brad busted out this horribly terrifying mask
Grandpa Neil came to town and we spent a morning with him, going for lunch and shopping for party supplies for Quinny's upcoming party! He also didn't love that we were letting her climb in her Native shoes (they are closed toed at least!) and bought her some new runners. Pretty cute. She kept talking about how fast they made her run.
Hanging out in the forest with Chris
Good Buddies
