Christmas Day

Christmas Morning (slowly making my way through our holiday!) Q woke up VERY sick. She had a full blown nasty head cold. I knew it was coming! Jon and I got up first and woke the rest of the house... Q woke up because she heard Jon saying to Shelby "Wakey wakey its christmas!" and Quinny from the other room sits straight up and yells "YAY! Are there presents?! Did Santa bring me a present?!" And bolts out of bed. That was about the extent of her energy all day. But we got the house up, made coffee, took pictures on the stairs and got everyone downstairs.
Sick, but so excited to go downstairs and see her presents! The joy of this girl makes everything just so much more fun. I was giddy with excitement for her to see everything
Matching Jam-Jams for this family! Ha! I love them!
"Whoa! That is for me?! This is so so so cool!" was what she said when she saw our stockings and presents all set up.

Santa brought us all new games! All of us got a new one. My mom is the best.
Quinny got a game too, but she also got this baby carrier which she was very excited about! It's designed to look like a Tula, and has buckles and everything to make it realistic and comfy for her! I've been waiting weeks for her to open this, and her reaction was so good.
Cuties on the couch opening their stockings
Mom and Trevor got Quinny a huge bag full of princess themed things - this Belle dress and accessories and all sorts of things! Her favorite part was that her baby got a new matching Belle dress
For years when we were younger, Brandon always went to the Body Shop and bought our mom a weird rock... it was for scrubbing her foot or something. She always thanked him profusely for it, and made a big deal about it, because he was so proud of buying the rock himself... like I am talking years of him buying her different rocks and her pretending to love them haha! So this year she went to a rock show (what is that even?!) and bought him a fancy rock to put in his stocking... I died laughing at that. It's probably one of those things that you need to be in our family to find funny, but I found it hysterical. Especially when the joke dawned on him and he says to her "What? Wait, Mom you actually didn't like those rocks?!" Way too funny
I don't remember what was happening here (dang writing this blog a month late!) but I like that they are all laughing. We do that a lot together.
This kid was such a trooper. She opened her first few presents and then just totally lost steam. Her nose was so runny, she kept blowing it and just looked so tired. But she was in good spirits still

Sugar cereal tradition! And new Paw Patrol slippers
"Yay Nutella! I am so hungry from all this work of opening presents, I need a snack break!" What a kid. And look at those sick eyes... but still making jokes and making us laugh. Love her.
We all had $10 gift certificates in our stockings to either Starbucks or Tim Hortons (we are split half and half in this family for who prefers what) because again my mom is amazing. This was one of Q's favorite things! She carried it around everywhere all morning and kept talking about how many cake pops she could get. At one point, she walks over to me and finds my card and puts in her envelope. When I asked her what she was doing she says "Well I'm not sure I can get enough cake pops, so I might need some more. So I will have mine and yours, okay?" No way kid! (she giggled as she said it, knowing she was being silly and that I would say no way jose)
These two pics make me so sad and show how the rest of the morning went... Sick, sad, puffy eyes, so tired, trying to get through presents but just has no energy. I felt SOOOO bad for her. What an awful day to be sick! No one wants to be sick on Christmas! My poor little love. (But the snuggles were awesome)
Opps these are a bit out of order, but I wanted to show them! So happy about matching her baby
A new baby from Uncle Brandon and Auntie Shelby! It is a doctor baby, so she kept feeding it medicine and checking her heartbeat because "my new baby is sick just like I am, so I want her to feel better so she needs me to take good care of her." It was actually pretty hard to get her to open anything else after this one - she just wanted to play with the baby. Little Mother Hen

Mom and I made breakfast the night before, so it was easy peasy the next morning! And it tasted really good! Yay!
Sick snuggles with Auntie Shelby. Quinny really really loves Shelby. They are pretty cute together.
Family pic!

Love this one of these two. So festive and adorable

We actually took a polaroid of this one (we used Q's polaroid camera a lot over the holidays and got some cute ones!) and its better because Jon is looking... but ah well! I love this picture. My favorite people.
Being silly with Grandma. These two are hilarious together. My mom makes Quinny laugh like no other. They have the same goofy sense of humour
They make me happy. It was a good Christmas morning, sick and all! Thank you Lord for sending your Son to be born as baby so that we may be saved. We are joyous over celebrating His birth.

After a full morning, we got ready for the day and Brandon and Shelby went to Neil's, and Stephen and Saige went to their moms, and we were all over the place! We went to my Dad and Raquel's first to spend some time with the three of them. Most of the pictures that I took were on the polariod! Opps. They surprised her with a giant Elsa balloon which she loved!
We all opened a few more presents and we ate a bit (all we did on this holiday was eat! Tis the season I suppose!) and visited a while. Quinnybear was happy and in a good mood, but I could see on her face that she was just spent. Her eyes looked so tired and she kept blowing her nose every 2 minutes. I felt so bad for her. So we left a bit early, but I think my Dad was just glad that we came even for a bit.

We were supposed to be at Coralee and Ed's by 4, but once we left my Dad's house Quinny fell asleep in the car immediately. We decided the best thing to do was let her sleep, so we drove around for 2 hours and let the girl rest. We were going to sleepover there also, but decided that we should come back home instead and hopefully get her a good sleep. But we showed up just as they were preparing dinner! Jon got the honors of carving the turkey. He told them that his uncle Ian was an expert at this and taught him how to do it properly. I cried and then took this picture.
Again, I didn't take many pictures on my phone! Darn! But it was a really great evening. As always, I was overwhelmed by this family's love for us. They love us simply because they chose to, not because they have to, or because we are related. Such deep love. They all spoiled Quinny and did whatever she wanted (being sick didn't stop her from being bossy... she loves to be in charge). They built forts, played kitchen, played hide and seek... it was so awesome to see all these cousins together.
And I got in some quality time with my Auntie Colette! Jim and Eileen were there too of course... it was such a good night. We were sad to leave early, but Q started coughing lots and telling me that she was tired.. time to head home. It was a very Merry Christmas indeed.
