Jon mentioned to me that he wanted to take this big piece of furniture from Nana's house, the last thing left after the house was all cleaned out and sold. I thought he was crazy! It was this huge cabinet that Nana and her husband (Jon's Opa I think they called him? Jon never met him, he sadly died right before Jon was born) had custom built to fit a specific spot in their house. I figured there was no way it would fit, and it was outdated and I couldn't envision it. But Jon really wanted it, and he measured the space and we discovered it would fit EXACTLY in the spot in our dining room. So we decided to take it, and see if it would look good, and if not, we would donate it, which was the original plan. So we got it home (no easy feat, this thing is huge!) and we scrubbed it, and took doors off, sanded the rough spots, changed the hinges and a few other small alterations. The result was so good! It looks great in the spot we put it, and it looks like it was designed to fit there. So cool how that happened. The cupboard on the bottom right is full of Nana's dishes and china that Lois gave me. Perfect spot for it! We are happy to have the cabinet, but we still really miss Nana, and would rather have her here instead. But Lois and her siblings seem very happy that we kept this, and that we love it, so that makes me happy.
Showing off the fashionable outfit that Auntie Calea bought her for Christmas as we put away her mountain of clothes! She has grown SO MUCH once again in the past two months or so! Time to pull out the next size and pack away all the small stuff! She is now at the end of a size 4, and wearing a 5T. She is SO tall for her age!
She set this tea party up for the two of us - laying down drying clothes as her table cloth, and pulling our her "Keurig" so that I could have a coffee instead of tea if I wanted. I love her tea parties and the time and attention to detail she pours into them! Even "Poppy", her new puppy that actually barks and moves (and drives me totally crazy), was invited to the tea party/
Hanging out with Sharon for a bit one day while Jon and I overlapped work shifts! I have such awesome friends.
Wearing her Elsa dress and carrying the big Elsa around in her new baby carrier. So adorable haha
Every morning she comes into our room when she wakes up and climbs up into the middle and we giggle and chat together for a while before we start our day (I'm always the last one to join in, because I need time to wake up before I'm happy haha). Somedays, Jon and I get up and ready for our days, and she stays in our bed like this, all buried in. When I told her it was time to get up, she yells out "NOOOOOO I want to be a lazy bones all day!". Funny kid. She loves our bed, and how "cozy" it is. I am just so glad that she's not in it all night long anymore haha.
I'm trying to make the bed, and she wraps herself in my sheets, cuddled into the duvet. Sheesh ha
Her babies everywhere drive me nuts. There is constantly babies tucked in places, being put "to bed". When I saw these, I had to take a picture, because I know there will be a day when my heart is sad that she is too big to play with her babies and I won't find them all over the house. At least they are out of sight, for the most part! Just in weird places haha
Just playing with Dad in the hallway while wearing her Cinderella dress haha.
Trying out the food processor that Tim and Lois got me for Christmas - love it!!! It chops veggies SO fast, it has revolutionized my salad making. It also shreds cheese and makes hummus instantly. Best thing ever!
Nail painting time. I had to work but I told her I would do it, so she stayed up waiting for me and we did them before bed. I love doing things like this with her.
One hand she painted herself, one hand I painted. Can you tell which is which?! Also, oh how I love those little toddler hands! So much about her seems so big, but she still has these adorable little hands.
Little Holly had a very scary health scare. Mary and Andew spent a few days in the PICU in Victoria with her, and I got snuggles with her big sister for a whole day. Poor Ady knew something was wrong and was so thrown off. I was happy to love her and soothe her, but I felt awful for her. The whole week was terrifying watching friends with such a sick baby. But she bounced back quickly as soon as she got the right meds, and is now home and thriving. We are so grateful!
We have had a weird amount of snow this year... it is seriously crazy! One weekend in early January we went to camp and spent the day with the Burdges to play in the snow and hang out with our friends. Getting lots of use out of her snow jacket and snow boots!
Love these two and how much fun they have. Dads that get in there and play alongside their kids are the best kind (in my opinion ;) So fun.
Love this sweet friend
Watching sadly as Chris took the boys for a ride - just a tad too little to go over all the BMX track hills!
Chris is awesome and took her on a few tamer rides, which she was thrilled out!
WOO WOO!
It was really fun and so cute to watch how much she loved it
Stepping on the ice on the lake! Brave! Right after I took this it creaked a bit and Sharon squeaked and got off quickly haha!
Gorgeous and frozen
Love my little snow bunny.
Making fresh noodles for dinner! Yum!!!
A Sunday family brunch at Oak Bay Marina, courtesy of Hazel! So lovely! We drove down for the afternoon to be with the family!
Love love love love these people!!! I have the best in-law family. Oh how I adore each of them.
The girls showed up to brunch both wearing their new vests from Calea. It was pretty adorable! Little fashionistas
While we were down, we stopped at the hospital so that I could go see Mary and Holly. Holly was doing great, and I got this text the next morning - time to come home! (Wearing the onesie we got her for christmas!) Yay!! Such good news.
All ready for the start of swimming lessons again! She is in Salamander
We moved Quinny's room - she is now in the room by the bathroom, and her old room is the spare room/play room now. Brad and Lisa came over a monday night dinner and Lee helped me get things on Q's new wall. I love it! It makes her room so personal and cozy. I am happy with how the whole space is turning out!
Some before bed Go Fish, Quinny's new favorite game! These two just love each other so much. So cuteHer routine lately has been that we read a few books to her before bed, and then she sits up with her mini flashlight and reads to herself for a while. I love when I go in there and she is sleeping like this, with books all around her. She gets so lost in the pictures and the stories, and I love that!
January started so well, lots of time at home, settling back into routine after our crazy holidays.
