Trying out her new snorkle gear - I was pretty impressed because she asked me for help to get it all on, but didnt ask me how to use it, she just knew. I figured she wouldn't actually use the mouth part, but she did! She went right in, face first with her gear on. Way to go! She will be more than ready for our next Hawaii trip in a few years!
I love serving alongside this guy. He is so good at what he does, and it is fun to be a part of it!
Driving her jeep around in her princess dress - classic! She loves this "quad" as she calls it, so she can match her Daddy.
She proudly parks it by his at night. Too cute
With not having a cook, we had lots of friends in and out during the week helping with meals! Sarah took a time out from cooking to play with Quinny
Mary and Andrew booked their annual camping trip up at Gordon Bay, so that we would be nearby and able to come! What awesome friends. So Quinny and I went over to visit while the campers were rappelling with Jon. We hit the beach for the afternoon - best!Dawson cabin led for the first time, and he did so great! It's always interesting to see how past campers make the transition from camper to cabin leader, and Dawson has been coming for so many years! But he did awesome! And it was just fun to hang out with him for the week! Seeing these camp kids that we really love grow up is so cool. I love this part of camp life.
She got a fever out of nowhere, so she was pretty lethargic the whole night. It was nice to see her the next morning happy and bouncing right back, ready to go swimming and have more adventures
Just hanging out with all the big kids, going for a boat ride!
Our dinnertime lifesavers!
So I come out of the mess hall, and I ask where Quinny is, and Jon says she is with Chris. I go find them, and this is the actual scene that I saw - all the boys crowded around her jeep, checking it out. I just burst out laughing! They were impressed with the hood and how it comes up, and how the jeep plays music with an aux cord. Already impressing the boys, oh dear! haha
Such good buddies all summer long!
We were playing a leader round of "can't touch this". That is me making Dawson fly into the air like that. Immediately after this, Dawson said "Mel! You are weirdly strong!". That made me laugh and very proud of myself!
Love love love summer days with this kid. It is such a unique time in life for us, where I have the luxury to spend all summer with her, and it's just us. We have a pretty sweet bond that I am thankful for!
Once all the campers were picked up, it was time to head to the campsite! I had dropped off our tent when we went to visit, and Andrew had it all set up! We just needed to bring our mattresses and bedding. What a dream
She loves maps so much, it's a little strange. But here she is, reading yet another map that she convinced us to go get with her haha
This summer she got really good on her strider bike, and pretty brave. She can now go fast on it, and she likes to go down hills
Beachtime!
Love these people.
Dingy time with Uncle Andrew
Jon's family used to camp at Gordon Bay all the time, so I think it was pretty fun for him to be there (in much nicer weather this time) and do things with Q that he used to do as a kid.
Samarah got married! And she FaceTimed me after the ceremony! It was so lovely to talk to her on her special day! I was really really sad I couldn't be there, but it was in on Ontario - too far!
The weather was perfect and we were having such a great day, that I wasn't really wanting to leave to go sit in the tent so Quinny could nap. But as always, the battle is that if she doesn't nap, she will be a bear by dinnertime. So I improvised and set her up a bed in the shade and went and sat with her quietly and read my book. It actually worked! She fell asleep and had a great nap outside, and we didn't have to leave the beach! Yes!
Ice cream from J & V's that night! What cuties.
The newlyweds, sending another picture to me so that I could feel as though I was there.
I didn't take any pictures of us or Mary and Andrew during our weekend together, but it was the best weekend. They wouldn't let us bring any food, and they set up our tent, so we literally just showed up, stayed for two nights and left again. It was really nice to spend time with our friends in the middle of our crazy season. We just love and appreciate them a lot, and hanging out with them is just easy.
