We had a weekend of camping planned, and before we headed out, Neil wanted to take us for lunch. So we went to Bonnie Martins and the boys ordered their beloved chicken curry fries haha. We had a great visit, and when we were done, Q and I went outside to wait for the boys. Neil came out after paying and Q says "look at what me can do, I dancing!" and she starts dancing around, and spinning in circles. We laugh at her and tell her what a good dancer she is, and she does one more spin.
She lost her footing and banged her head on the corner of the brick wall. It made such a gross sound! I scooped her up right away and she was crying real, hurt tears. I ask her if I can take a look, and I scan her face and don't see any blood. She cuddles back into me, whimpering still. I put my hand on her head to hug her close, and realize that there is blood on her ear and now my hand. I lift her hair up, and see the wound and instantly feel queasy. Jon came outside right then, so I handed her over to him and he took over. So thankful for a husband who tackles first aid situations with no problems! Here they are in the car after he has cleaned the wound and taken her shirt off, because this momma was worried about blood stains haha.
We decided to take her to emerg just in case, because with head wounds you just can't be too careful. Jon made the mistake of saying to me "if we take her in and they stitch her, they may have to cut her hair". She was NOT happy about that and kept saying "no don't let the doctor cut my hair! I love my hair!" We assured her that it would be okay, they probably wouldn't cut it, but if they did, that was okay, because its just hair. (I said this while glaring at Jon, who looked sheepish haha!). By the time we got to the Chemainus emerg, she was perked up and in pretty good spirits. Because of the amount of hair that this kid has, you couldn't even see the wound or blood! The nurse looked at us like we were crazy when we said she banged her head and was bleeding lots...
So typical. She bounces back so fast from everything that has been thrown her way so far, and just defaults back into being silly.
I said "Quinny you need to act sad so that they know it does actually hurt". So she says "Okay! Like this?" and makes this sad face. Oh man, she makes me laugh! So here we are with our sad faces
Here she was saying "But I not sad, I just want to go CAMPING! YAHOO!" loudly. Oh my girl. Never a dull moment. We wanted to get out of there and just go camping too!
The nurse gave her this bear and she thought that was awesome. When I asked her what she would name it she says "Black and white bear I think". Real original kid. (she clearly gets that from me... whose 'Mr.Bear' still sleeps on my bed..)
The doctor said that she didn't want to stitch, because just like we thought, she would have to cut the hair in order to do that. She said with adults they would staple it, but that can be pretty traumatizing for a kid. UMM NO KIDDING! Please don't staple my kid's head...She then brought out the crazy glue and said they will glue it shut. She said it would leave a scar with the glue, but we aren't too worried about that since its under all that hair. Q laid so still and did awesome! The doctor even commented on how sweet and well behaved she is. All glued up and ready to hit the road! No more adventures like this for a while please...
Nice workout clothes for the crisis :-)
