Little Qualicum Falls Camping Trip!

We wanted to go camping and when we looked at our spring schedule, the only free weekend we had all spring was the last one of April that ran into the first weekend of May! So we decided to go then, and told the Easson's our plans. By a total surprise, they were free too! We have a hard time these days just finding a night that we are all free to do dinner, never mind an entire weekend! So awesome! After the head gash incident, we finally were on our way! When we got there we did a quick drive around to see the sites available, and then picked one of the first ones we saw - it was a HUGE site. It was the size of a double, without being a double. More than enough room for both tents, both vehicles, and tons of room for the girls to play!
We were there a few hours before the Easson's because Andrew had to work later that day. So we got our stuff all set and started getting dinner stuff ready. I was PUMPED to be there! I love camping!!!!
She was so excited to set up her new bed! Complete with her Frozen flashlight, headlamp and new water bottle!
Before we got dinner ready, we went for a walk down to the river. It was SO BEAUTIFUL! I love it here!

Jon went down to feel the water and put his feet in, and she was so brave and put her feet in to

Headlamp Buddies!

Ady is making her baby climb a tree and then drops it to the ground and says "baby! fall!" Funny girl!! I love watching this little one grow.
Andrew at one point went to his car and got these straps and started doing something in the trees. When he finished he asked Q to come over, and he told her he made her a chair! How cute! He knew that she would love it and find it fun... such good friends. I love that we have friends who knows our kid, and whose kid we know and love deeply. Very cool.
She thought it was so fun, but then wanted to up the ante and pull the little plastic lawn chair in there to sit on. That made Andrew a bit more nervous, which made Jon laugh - they are very different dads, but also so similar in how fun they are, and how much they love their families.
Whereas Q loved the chair in the tree, Ady was not such a fan. She was not impressed and a little scared. Poor girl!
Quinny always wants to hold Ady's hand when they walk, and Ady is more than happy to let her. It is just so fun to watch these two together. They love each other so much - Ady calls her "Tinny" and gets so excited to see her. They play together so well. It makes my heart very happy!

I wanted to keep up with my workouts while away, so I did a couple laps around the campground, and then did these stairs. It's cool to see my cardio improving so much - I feel much stronger and I don't get winded nearly as easy. Yahoo!
They could NOT be any cuter if they tried!!!! Little besties. Totally adorable. Love these girls. They were so happy and awesome all weekend long!!!

A shot of our whole site so you can see how big it was! Thats our tent behind our car. So much space! The whole weekend was just so relaxing and easy. The boys took the girls out for a hike in the afternoon and Mary and I sat in the sunshine together and chatted. SO nice! It was pretty funny when they got there on Friday and we both pulled out all stuff - we camp so similarly. We had almost the exact same big bin, packed full, and we bring along pretty much the same sort of stuff. Even the toys we packed for the girls were more or less the same, beach toys in a mesh bag. Funny! It also was pretty sweet camping with people who do it like we do, it made it very easy - and it helps that Mary and I feed our families similarly - makes meals and snacks easy!! It was all just so laid back and fun.
Roasting a marshmallow for her first s'more!

She was very excited about the s'more - this kid loves marshmallows! And chocolate, of course
Not at all surprisingly, she took a few bits, and then opened it up and ate the marshmallow and chocolate and then handed me the graham crackers back.
Ady was also pretty stoked to try her first s'more! The girls are learning that CAMPING ROCKS!
We wanted to make banana boats, which are devine and I was VERY excited about - not eating any junk food normally these days makes the junk food THAT much better! haha! Adalee went to bed, and we got Q ready for bed and then told her that if she was quiet and a really good listener, she could stay up and have a special treat - her and Jon shared a banana boat and Quinny was OVER THE MOON about it! She was so giddy and kept giggling and saying how good it was. She also kept saying "Mom! Im a big girl, I stay up so late", which was adorable.

We heard from our dear friend April that night, who told us she was ENGAGED!!! This is the picture I texted her back - SOO excited for her!! April was my RA my first year at Briercrest... she dealt with the crazy, breaking all the rules Mel. She is also the person who was with me when I decided to become a Christian - on her floor, in a pool of tears. Needless to say, this girl is very important to us, and we are VERY happy for her!!!
Sweet, sleeping girl. She did awesome in the tent, sleeping all night and staying in her sleeping bag

These are out of order, which is annoying, but here are some extra ones!

Andrew sat in the tree chair he made at one point, and Q comes over and says "Andrew! I want a turn!" and he says "Well Quinny, I'm sitting here right now. But I am happy to share with you. Let me sit here for 10 seconds" and then proceeds to count to 10 while the girls patiently waited. Always a teaching moment available, right?! haha!
Amanda and Iain were in Coombs and she texted me, so we invited to come visit! Such awesome people. Sophia fit right in with the girls, and the Easson's and Murray's got along great! We had a great time sitting around the campfire
Kisses for my girl. Oh how I love these moments with her
The two best dads that I know, really. They are so attentive to their families, and put their girls before their own wants and are just all around awesome, Godly men. These two girlies are lucky to have these men as their Dad's.
Love love LOVE everything about these two shots. Look at Ady's face in the bottom one - priceless!!  So grateful for this family and their friendship. Amazing weekend. Perfect way to kick off the summer season!

So fun! The girls loved this and both were giggling like crazy
As we were all packed up and just eating lunch before going, Q was playing in the forest by our site. We looked over and Q had pulled her pants down. "Quinnlyn! What are you doing?!" "I peeing mom! I had to go so bad!" Look at that squat position! So impressed! She didn't get one drop on her pants. I've never seen her do this on her own before haha! Jon was so very proud of her in this moment!

Until next time, Little Qualicum. Thanks for the awesome weekend.
