Father's Day Picnic

Our church put on a Father's Day picnic after church down at Kin Beach, open to the community. It was a great event! It was drizzling a little bit when we first arrived and helped Ashley set up. She had her boys in her van watching a movie and Q jumped right in to sit with them. Before long though she wanted out and the rain stopped and it turned beautiful outside!
Some cute shots of Quinnybear and her Daddy :)

Love these silly smiles!!! These two are just so awesome.
There were a few funny games for the little people and their Dads... one of them was a piggy back relay race. This is such a great and funny group of Dads!

Eston and Elijah wanted in on the race, so Edgar piggy backed his eldest, while Jon went with Elijah.. oh man, so funny!!
An Easson family photo with a few extra kids!

As a kid, I used to dread Father's Dad because I always felt so awkward and upset that I didn't have a Dad to celebrate with. That definitely changed when I was a teenager and we had Neil who totally filled (and still fills!) the Dad role, but I still vividly remember how I would feel in early elementary school when the teacher would say it was time to make Father's Day craft/card/whatever it was we were making that year. I would be flooded with feelings of abandonment and of embarrassment, as if there was something 'wrong' with me because I had a Dad that I rarely saw or heard from. Seeing Jon with our daughter really makes me teary sometimes because I know that she will NEVER know how that feels. Their bond is so strong and so deep and he loves that girl more than words can express. It is remarkable how quickly a story can change, and how history does not have to repeat itself. I am so thankful for my husband and the way he parents our daughter. He is consistent, constant, and present. He adores her, but he also disciplines her when needed. He has tea parties with her and tucks her into bed every single night. He has built, and continues to build, a relationship with her that is unique and so special. I love watching them together!! Most importantly, he is a strong example to her of what it means to follow Christ and live your faith out on a daily basis and earnestly seek after Him - what an amazing gift he is giving her. Father's Day makes me happy because Quinny and I have a whole day dedicated to making sure Jon knows how much we love and appreciate him! (although hopefully he feels those things on regular days too!). Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy I have ever seen. You are the best and you are so loved.
