June Comes to an End

We spent a morning at the church cleaning out Jon's office and packing everything up. Jen and the girls were also at the church so Q played with them the whole time. She loves these girls so much and they are so cute with her, playing whatever she wants (which on this day was a million rounds of ring around the rosie!). It was very weird to be packing up Jon's office, remembering when we first moved everything in there almost five years ago! Time has just flown by since then!
That evening we had a staff dinner up at Wildside - Quinny of course sought out Lisa and ate dinner with her. She always only has eyes for Lisa when we are at camp!
This just made me laugh, because she has slept with her arms up like that by her head since the day she was born. We used to swaddle her because people always say that babies love to be swaddled, but she would LOSE her mind about it! We finally figured out that we could swaddle her and she did like it, but we had to leave her arms out because she liked to sleep like this. Funny how some things stay the same even as they grow! Just like when she gets tired, she will always start playing with her ear, usually the left one.
Jon was doing canoe training with his staff and Quinny did NOT want to miss out! As soon as she saw them get PFD's on, she came running down with her paddle and PFD. She listened really well while Jon did land training first and lots of talking. When they finally got in boats, she was stoked. She jumped right in the front, and sat there happily paddling while he continued training on the lake.
Her happy place, sitting with her beach toys, digging in the sand and filling buckets. She would do this all day if she could!

The Burdges fostered some adorable kittens until they were ready to be adopted and they were SO adorable. Quinny was in love with them and talked about the kitty's for days afterwards. A little animal lover
A tired girl by the time the day was over! Laying her head down on her Daddy while getting a shoulder ride

I finished a bunch of painting in the trailer bathroom! I am really happy with how the trailer is slowly becoming transformed. It just looks so much better and really is an oasis for us. It makes going to camp and staying while Jon is working so hard a lot easier and nicer! The smell is better, the mold is under control... all good things.
 Before
 And after!

Jon's pictures from Cave training day! So much training to do with staff that are new to the program and also don't have guide training. But they all seem to be having fun and these two are very eager to learn

This made me laugh... her Paw Patrol Pups all lined up watching her while she slept. She plays with them as she falls asleep and this is how she put them before closing her eyes.
Jon cutting Q's toenails - she is just laying there lounging while he does it. I hate cutting her nails, so he often does this job. Her nails grow so fast and are crazy sharp!
Same silly smiley face, two years later! It is so funny to me how she really did come out with such a goofy personality, and it just becomes more and more developed as she grows. This picture totally cracks me up!!
"Umm Mama? I forget my sunglasses somewhere and the sun SO bright. You share your own glasses with me please?" she asks so sweetly, even though said sunglasses were already on my own face. But how can I resist that plea? So of course I pass them back and then took this once we parked because she is just way too cute.
Q and I headed to Victoria because Jon was going to camp overnight to get some work done and then Open House was the next day and he had to work. I was going back and forth on whether or not to go to open house, but decided not to when I saw that the weather wasn't supposed to be very nice. There is just so many people that go (this year they had over 900!) and its crowded and busy and I find that sort of thing exhausting. But then the weather was so great! We should have went... oh well! Next year! Nate went up with Jon and they had a fun night together hanging out at Wildside after Jon was done working. He was meeting up with his family who were coming up the next day. It is so nice having Nate so much closer these days! We spent the day with the Lampards and then headed home in time for dinner. My dad had sent money for us to buy Q a basketball net because she has been talking about basketball a lot the past few times they FaceTimed, so we set it up for her that evening. Nate came back down from camp after Open House with Jon and spent the evening with us
She loves this basketball net and asks to go out and play all the time! It makes me laugh because she's out there shooting hoops while wearing a dress, because dresses are all she wants to wear these days! A well rounded girl, I like it!
She looks so much more like me when we brush her hair like this!! I need a picture of me at the same age to show the comparison! It is crazy how much 'straight' hair changes the way she looks!
 Look at that wrist shot!
When we walk in the door to church on Sunday's, Quinny right away seeks out Jen and wants to sit with her. We often joke that Q is the Monahan's fourth daughter. Their love for each other is mutual :)
Jon was addressing our graduates (a few missing) and he got emotional. He so rarely gets emotional, and overtime he does it goes straight to my heart and I instantly get emotional as well!! We love these guys, and are just so proud of them and excited for their future. This was also Jon's last official task as Youth Director at the church

We had our fourth annual church family picnic and baseball game after church, and she had fun running around with all her little friends, playing hard. She looked so pretty! All she wants to wear these days is dresses
Big people and small people all played baseball! I love our church for the way that it includes all ages of people in our events

Love this lady. We actually had a dinner date together just the two of us the next night! I rarely get one on one time with her, so it was awesome!
Spectators cheering on the game and playing with the smaller people
Edgar dancing his way to home plate after hitting a home run. Such a fun pastor
My turn!
I was upstairs cleaning in my room one day and she got upset with me about something and I told her that if she wanted to cry and have a fit over nothing, she can go to her own room and cry. She stomped out of my room and went to her own room, fuming mad, but quiet. I hear her say to herself "I get all my babies and hug them and they listen to me cry" which made me laugh. A few minutes later, I hear her leave her room and head downstairs without saying anything (which is unusual because this kid usually is constantly announcing to me where she is going and what she is doing - its a never ending stream of chatter). After about 8-9 minutes, I realized that it was really quiet down there, so I went down to find her and this is what I found - she was out like a light, sleeping on the couch. This is the first time in her little life that she has just fallen asleep somewhere on her own - she usually will do anything she can to stay awake haha. She hadn't been feeling good, so obviously she needed the sleep, so I let her sleep for about an hour that morning.
Jon came home that afternoon, and he was totally zonked as well, just run down from the busyness of spring. We put her down for a nap and a bit later she started making noise and not settling down. So he went up there, and after about 20 minutes I went up to see what happened to him and this is what I found! Napping beauties. Both sick, trying to kick the sinus infection/headcold that they had.
We don't like our backyard, and because of that, we don't spend tons of time back there - we just go to the beach or go to camp instead. Both those things are great, but we really want a yard that we enjoy spending time in. So we decided to start the process of digging up all the rocks so that we can lay sod or seed and have way more grass! That gravel area eats up so much space! All we had to dig with was a shovel with a short handle, and a snow shovel. Pretty funny, but over a few days, we got it done!

One morning Quinnybear and I were having smoothies and chatting, and she was being super funny. She is so expressive with her face, and I tried to catch some especially good ones

Look at those blonde curls!!
See that grass area in the bottom left? That used to be grass, and Jon and I dug up grass from another area in the yard where our BBQ now is, and replanted the grass there. It worked and grass is growing!

Almost 3 years old and trying her first slurpee! She was really excited about picking her own flavours, but couldn't figure out why her head kept hurting when she would drink it fast haha! Overall, it was a big hit! She won't be getting them often, but they are fun summer treat!
