Happy September Long Weekend

Last weekend was the September Long Weekend - senior teen ended on Friday and we were very happy to have Jon home!
The weekend started with Quinny decorating Henrik with her hair bows. After this, she went and put a bow in each of her babies hair also. She knows all about pinning that hair back out of the face!
We went down to Victoria on Friday evening - the original plan was for us to go out for our anniversary dinner that night. But then when we got there we realized that everyone was coming over and that Jon spent very little time with his family this summer. So we stayed in and it ended up being such a good decision! It was really fun to spend time with the whole family, all 11 of us.

The girls jumped in the pool and went swimming - it really does amaze me what a little fish this girl is! She goes under water and comes up no problem, keeping her eyes and mouth closed, and knows how to breathe out and not in. Its been a great summer for her getting to be a stronger swimmer!
She's smiling, but really those eyes of her are glued onto Madi's snack bowl haha! Cuties
Luke mowed the lawn (twice, actually) and set up croquet so that we could play. Tim made drinks and we just spent the evening in the yard together
Even the little people got a special drink made for them by Papa! Seriously, these girls are so adorable together.

Classic Quinnlyn these days - making a silly face when we try to take a picture of her! Wonder where she gets that from?!

It was such a good night with everyone, light and easy. It was much needed!!!!

The next morning we took Quinnlyn out to play at a park, just the three of us

I love these goofballs. We are all tired after the summer of craziness, but its so nice to just be together
Then that evening Lois watched Quinny and we went out for dinner. We went to Yates Street Tapa Bar - good, but not my favorite place. We are trying to go somewhere different whenever we manage to go out together! My drink here came with gummy worms on top... best drink ever!
We then hit up the board game cafe downtown because we love that place! The guy working there showed us how to play a new game that was just released, and it was so fun! We love learning new games. Does that make us nerds?! This place is seriously awesome - we ordered milkshakes and a bowl of candy and sat there and talked and played a few games, kid free. Perfect evening for us
We headed back home early Sunday morning so that we could get to church on time. Q and I ended up leaving the service early because she came down with a little headcold and was so stuffy and miserable. I took her home and laid her down for a nap and both her and this sleepy fluff ball slept for over three hours!!
My brother and Shelby were in Medicine Hat for the long weekend so they facetimed us while they were at Grandmas for family dinner. Q and I said hi to everyone and talked for a bit, and when we hung up, I cried. I know, I know what a wimp I am. But I miss them, always.
Lately, she has been grabbing her faceclothes and covering her stuffed animals and babies with them as blankets for them. Then she grabs a tea towel and does the same thing to herself. Hilarious!
After having Friday evening and Saturday off, Jon needed to get back to work for Sunday and Monday... he feels very behind on youth stuff, and this ministry gears up now as camp winds down! I admire his go-go energy and passion for what he does. He decided that we are going to switch youth rooms this year - at first, I thought he was nuts. But, the new room does make more sense. But it has been used a big storage room for so long, it smells and has puke green color walls! So first things first... we need to make that room useable! We came up with a plan for the room and went shopping for paint and spent all evening there on Sunday painting. Q came too and watched a movie and just ran around.
Opps, out of order, but I took this on Sunday as I was getting ready for church. Ignore the mess in the room please.... its hard to tell, but I wanted to capture this because it just warms my heart and makes me laugh. She copies EVERYTHING I do in the morning... she puts "contacts" in, she brushes her hair, she pretends to put makeup on... everything. Here, I was putting on earring and fixing my shirt and running my fingers through my hair before leaving... I look down and she was doing it too. I started laughing and she just stared at me. I grabbed the phone, so here she is mimicking my stance and looking up at me. Her Daddy is her hero, and she always wants him and picks him first. So moments like this, I hold onto tightly!!! She looks up to me, and I will be her greatest example of how to be a Godly woman, and I don't take that lightly... even though that terrifies me!! I also can't wait until we are actually getting ready at the same time... I loved sitting in my moms room doing my makeup, talking with her while she did her hair or whatever. We often got ready for our days together, and I hope Q and I can do the same!
Painting! I will post pictures from when it is done... but see the color of the doors? That was the color of the walls in this room before we started... Yikes!
