Sunday started with group texts from my brother and mom. I love our family group texts with them, they are hilarious. So I woke up laughing, what a good way to start the day! Jon was gone already because he was doing music so Quinny and I had a good morning getting ready and dancing to music. It's kinda funny because people keep asking "oh are you glad summer is over and Jon is home?"... Sure he's home and not living up at camp - but we are just as busy as we were this summer. He has been working crazy hours on church stuff, and he jumped right into it immediately after camp. I am so proud of how hard this guy works. I love both of the ministries that he works so hard at, but sometimes I think it would be nice to have one focus... one ministry that weaves and flows with hectic times and natural downtimes. Instead, we have been running at full speed since April and there is no time to slow down in the coming weeks. It feels exhausting! But exhausting in a good way.
She got a shopping cart and she has been using it as a stroller for her babies. She started dancing with the stroller and it was quite the sight!
Neil came to town for a quick visit! It felt so busy, with our other company just leaving! But we love having Neil. He just goes along with whatever we are doing, and its nice to have him around! He took us for lunch to Bonnie Martins - this is how she felt about going for lunch - very happy! After lunch the boys came home to put Q down for a nap, and Neil put on the football game and Jon worked. I went to the church to paint more... I was there for so long by myself and still it felt like I wasn't getting anywhere! This lettering is going to take me the rest of my life to finish!... okay thats a little dramatic, but you get the picture. haha. At dinnertime Q made Neil put on this bib and we had a good laugh about that... he is so good with Quinny. They had a fun time playing together.
Then this morning Neil came with Q and I into Duncan so that I could get a bunch of new things for the youth room... man oh man what an adventure! It turned into a CRAZY shopping trip with many disasters and a yelling toddler, but once it was all over, we were able to laugh about it. Neil made the comment on how it was all a little funny and that he handled it well (when you are not used to hectic and crazy and then throw a toddler in there... it is quite the experience!). I told him that he sure did and actually said that I was impressed with how he handled the mini disasters (like the chairs we bought not fitting into thecae after 10 minutes of trying to make them fit and having to call Jon to come into town with a second vehicle....) and that 10 years ago, he would not have handled them well at all. He agreed and said yep you are probably right. It is really neat for me to see the changes in Neil over the years... he has mellowed out so much, and just is much happier then he was when we were younger. Its a really nice change! Once we finally got home, we just visited for a while (I love talking to him about politics, world issues, or just life in general... he is so smart and challenges me intellectually in a good way!) and then he was on his way back. A quick trip! Jon spent the afternoon in and out of meetings (trying to find new youth leaders for the year, and worship team meetings and staff meetings) so I called Dixie and asked if she would mind babysitting for a while so I could keep painting. She said of course, so I took Q over there and she spent a few hours playing with them! Dixie said she was SO good, and really funny. They played her game, and she sent us this, because one of the cards told Q to go find a hat, and the only one they could find was a JETS hat, and she knew that would stress Jon out! haha!
She also sent me the cutest video ever her Q and Elijah dancing around and both laughing real belly laughs. It was adorable!! She fed her dinner also so that I could keep working... so many hours and still not even half done.... my wrist hurts so bad! This picture doesn't make it look that great, so I really hope that it looks better in real life haha! I have been staring at the wall for so long that I don't even know if it looks good anymore! By the time I left the church tonight, I had finished all the way to the bottom on the left and had started on the bottom of the white!
It is coming together! I had to leave at 730 to go get Q and do bedtime and I saw that Jon was still at the church, in the worship team meeting. We played for a bit and did bedtime and he texted a while ago and said the meeting was done but that he was going to keep working and painting. Its now almost 10 and he's still not home... he's been gone since 8 this morning. What a long day! But full of good stuff! Things are coming together for our youth kick off next week! Jon is actually up at Imadene all week next week, staying over night from monday-friday with a wildside guest group, so we lose him for a whole week. So Im happy that youth is Tuesday night, because he will leave camp for a few hours on Tuesday for our kick off, so we will get to see him then during the long week! So looking forward to youth group finally starting. I just need to finish the quote wall...
