A few extra pictures from our last day with grandma and grandpa that were on Jon's phone so they didn't make into my last post, so I am adding them now! We went for ice cream before they headed to the airport, but Q was the only one who actually got ice cream.. The rest of us just enjoyed the sunshine!
Baby Bears has like 15 flavours or more to choose from and she picks chocolate every time
This made us laugh. I sleep like this when I have a migraine because the cold cloth eases the pain slightly. She has obviously noticed that, and she also like wet face cloths when she has an "owie". But this night she got herself a face cloth and put it on her face and said "facecloth help me sleep better like mommy". This is a picture of her monitor out cold snoring so loud with the face cloth on her face haha! She doesn't miss a thing and picks up on so much
Grandma and Grandpa flew out at 3pm o Thursday and Taylor arrived at 830pm that night! Super quick turnover getting the house ready and re stocking food in the fridge! I had to work that afternoon also. Busy life! But good busy. She was pretty tired when she got there after a full day of driving from Edmonton, so we went to bed early. The next morning Q was very excited to see her there!! They spent a long time upstairs just hanging out, doing each other's hair and nails and playing. Taylor is so good with Q! She is chilled out and fun, a perfect combo for an auntie! Q painted both of their feet like this, I took this off of Taylor's snapchat 😂
We had a lazy morning just hanging out (and I worked out! I love how it's become a priority for me and just a natural part of the day) and Jon worked from home. (Not in the office because our office is all torn apart... Our hot water tank broke. Another big expense this month! Yikes). Then I went to work that afternoon and these three hung out. Jon took them to Ladysmith for cinnamon buns
And then they went and explored a bit down at the beach! They never left each other's side which is so cute
Friday was a bit of an emotional day for me and work was long and boring. So this was my snapchat that day just to make myself laugh 😂
Both huge spaghetti lovers! Taylor is such easy company, it's nice to have her around
Before bed snuggles that night. This is pretty much how they were when I got home from work! We played outside a bit and then when Q went to bed we pulled out Bohnazna and played! She is a game lover too, she fits in perfectly in this house!

Sunny Last Days
Their last full day with us was SO sunny and warm!! I LOVE when the weather starts getting so warm... it's amazing what so much more sun can do for my mood! Quinnlyn was able to convince either one or both of her great grandparents to push her on her swing in our backyard and ran around playing bubbles and just having fun. I sat for a long time in the sunshine (okay half shade, because while I LOVE the sun, my skin does not!) reading a book in my recliner lawn chair. Ahh! This is the life!
Sitting by myself can't last for long, and soon enough I was joined by a little monkey! She says to me "mama read the book to me" and did not like my answer when I said she wouldn't like this book. So instead she just climbed all over me, and then settled in and gave me some snuggles for a few minutes before running off again. I love when she comes in for a hug, because she is not, and never has been, an overly huggy or snuggly girl (hmm wonder who she gets that from!?). So I soak in those moments when she gives them to me!! Man I love this little girl.
It was way too nice after dinner to stay home, so we went down to the beach again. Grandpa likes walking along the shore and exploring
Cuties playing in the sand!
She loves filling her bucket, not to make castles, but just to fill it up and carry it around haha
It was such a gorgeous sunset!!
Love this. Two very special men!!
Doing the "crunchy sound"... this was their thing all week at nighttime snack. They are both so goofy, no wonder they were such good friends! haha
A early morning power walk with my love on thursday morning. One of the major perks of having company is that they are home with Q so that we can go out walking together. I liked going out with him in the early morning before the day really started. I hope we keep doing that! (he would love to, its me that puts up the fuss... I hate early mornings! Its hard for me to remember these moments when I'm laying snuggled in my warm bed, all sleepy)
Went back to Kin for their last few hours here
I love that he gets up there and plays with her. I remember loving playing with my Grandpa when I was young, and it makes my heart so happy to see him playing with her.
My Grandma cleaned our bathrooms and washed the sheets that they have used all week before we left! She is the best kind of company to have haha! She also scrubbed my dishwasher and stove top, and cleaned my floors and did most of the cooking while they were here! I was so spoiled this week by her! That's what she does, she takes care of people in practical ways. She is awesome.
How many kids can say that they caught their Great Grandpa on the slide?! She is so blessed. He does these things just to make her giggle and I love that. It was so sad seeing them off!!! Jon drove them to the airport and I headed to work, and after work when I got back into my car, it smelled like my Grandma's perfume and I cried a bit. I just miss them so much sometimes!! And I feel so lucky that they love us so much that coming to visit is a priority. It was such an excellent week with them!

She made herself a pillow and wanted to lay down on it haha! We had to scrub sand out of her hair that night in the bath!
She says " oh wow Dada, what a pretty sunset!" They are two of the same sometimes!Love this. Two very special men!!

Coombs and Mini Golf
Monday morning we headed to Coombs to go to Goats on the Roof and walk around - I love going to Coombs. It's so cute and there is so much to look in the store!
I saw this chair and instantly was in love. I imagined myself at Wildside, sitting there reading a book in the afternoon while Q napped and campers were gone... ahh the bliss! Too bad it's not in the budget. But isn't it cute?!
Quinny kept trying to call the goats "Goats! Where are you? Come out now goats! Awww, the goats all gone!" Sadly they were no where to be found! But we still had fun looking at all the other stuff
These two hanging out together while Grandma and I went into the shops. They rarely left each other's side all week long!
Teaching Quinnybear how to drive
This cracked me up and I had to take a picture. Look at her hand, just walking around like such a big girl, with her purse and hat!
We hit up Subway for lunch in Parksville and then went mini golfing. I love mini golfing! It was fun to try and teach Quinny how to do it properly. She hit her ball at every single hole and listened so well!
She got the first hole in one! I was amazed! She was a little sad at first "awww guys my ball went right in the hole, I want hit it again!" until we started cheering and clapping and high fiveing her and she realized that it was a big deal!
At the waterfall, Grandpa tells Q its time to wash her club, because he just does silly things like that. So he picked her up and they washed her club and she thought that was hilarious. It then sprayed them both in the face, which was hilarious for Grandma and I
Super fun day together doing something that we all enjoyed!
This was my face that when I did the optional HIIT video that HRM gives us. WOW is it ever hard! Jon did it also and he said the same thing. But it didn't give me shin splints! I'm getting those from running for my HIIT... I have bad shoes! So this hard workout it is... I just remind myself that sweating hard and being shaky and tired is a good thing!
Big girl bed! The plans we had for the twin bed that we have been painting and getting ready we threw out the window for now. We had an extra double size mattress, and her crib/toddler bed turned into this double bed, so we decided to just do that. We were thinking originally that we were going to keep the crib and give Q a different bed just 'in case' we need it. But I have recently come to a place where I need to surrender my hopes for having another baby because it is affecting the choices I am making in my life right now. I need to make decisions based on my family right now, and not what 'might be' someday. So, Jon and Grandpa put together this bed for her and Grandma and I went shopping and I bought her new sheets, and gave her the blanket that I used all through college, and she loved it. She jumped right into her 'big bed' right away and snuggled under the covers! She saw the flat sheet and pillows and says "oooh mommy, I get cozy sheets like your bed and cozy pillow!" Her excitement was awesome!
I now need to re-do her wall and move around her pictures and whatnot, but the bed looks great!! It's such a pretty bedset! This is what I dreamed of for her when I picked out this crib/dresser set before she was born, and it's so cool to see it put together! Although I took this picture and cried... my baby is not a baby, she is growing so fast!!!
Owl's nest coffee date in Chemainus the next morning
Everywhere we went, she wanted to hold Grandpa's hand. He loved it
Searching the beach for sand dollars. They thought it was so neat and Grandma picked some shells. Kin really is the best, with the park and then this awesome beach. It was such a nice warm day outside! It was fun to show them what we do with our days, and why we love the ocean. My family often asks if we will ever come home, and I think moments like this makes it easier for them to understand why I say probably not. We love island life. And we love sharing it with our family when they come to visit!Wednesday, April 20, 2016
Salt Spring Island and Golfing Adventures
We decided to go over to Salt Spring Saturday morning and take in Ganges market and walk around the little shops. Quinnybear got the best hat from my Grandma that she was excited to wear!
Her fake smile cracks me up all the time. This girl has my heart forever.
It was drizzly and a bit cool but no wind and not too cold, so being outside was nice! It was really fun to look at all the artisans and food stands
Windy ferry ride but big smiles!
I keep trying to sit in the backseat and getting one of them to sit in the front, but they refuse. Grandpa says he likes cuddling like Grandma in the back haha! So this is how we drive, all piled into our tiny car!She wanted to carry her baby on her back like I carry her, so I wrapped her blanket around her and tied it so the baby would stay. So cute! I've seen little kid doll carries that look like a play minature version of my Tula that I've been thinking about getting her for her birthday, because she is such a little mother hen! Once the baby was secure, she pulled out the tools again and away she worked
She never wants to leave Grandpa's lap, always climbing on him and sitting on him
Every night that they have been here we have played crib, boys against girls. I love playing cards with my Grandpa because he's so smart and can count cards in a split second. It's remarkable to watch! It's just been so fun to hang out with these guys (also, grandma and I have won the majority of the crib games, much to the boys dismay!)
DMM missing the second D after church on Sunday
Tim and Lois drove up and came to church with us and when I saw Lois it was so funny! We dressed the exact same!!! Too funny!!
Tim and Lois treated us all to lunch afterwards at the Sawmill Taphouse. It's so nice mixing our families and being able to all spend a bit of time together!
After lunch the boys went to golfing again and Grandma and Q and I hung out together. The visit has just been so easy and low key and fun. It's so nice to have them here!!!
Handsome men!! I love when Jon's hair gets a bit longer and curls over his hat like this. These guys have had so much fun golfing together during this visit! It's such a special treat for Jon to be able to take a bit of a breather and relax and have fun like this. And Grandpa is a huge golfer and would go everyday if he could! I'm so glad they are able to spend time together and do this! After they were done, Grandpa treated us all to dinner at Mr. Mike's - steak, YUM!!! I even had dessert, yikes! My eating wasn't awesome this weekend, but it also wasn't awful. But I knew that I had to work hard now and keep making good choices, so that night Jon and I went for a huge power walk (I know that power walk sounds so much more wimpy than running and doesn't sound that hard... it is. We walk fast, and uphill, and keep up a fast, steady pace. It's no walk in the park!) all over town. We came in the door all sweaty and tired but feeling good. It was a great weekend!
