When we got back from Grand Forks, our cats were both really needy and rubbing against us and wanting attention. The missed us I guess! Quinny gave Henrik some love after telling him "Wow Henrik you are SO big and super heavy!" It's true, he is so fluffy and heavy haha.
The next morning we headed over to Mary's for a playdate. The girls were so happy to be back together. They are so goofy together and play SO well. Awesome girls.
Happy to be back in her kitchen, cooking away. Not he stove she said she was cooking "soup" and "hot chocolate".
Christmas Cookie baking day! We made sugar cookies together
She liked to sample the cookie dough and lick out the bowl haha. This recipe is the best recipe for sugar cookies! They are so soft and not hard at all. Delicious!
Dear Grandparents during the Christmas season - a empty cardboard box is just as fun as any toy! This box kept her and Dani entertained for quite some time, until I got tired of tripping over it and made Jon recycle it
She is very into fort building these days. She always wants to make forts out of blankets and then she sits in them and plays quietly or reads. She makes them all by herself. She often will set up little picnics in her forts, or beds for her babies. Her imagination is awesome.
I had to work Thursday afternoon/evening, so we didn't have time to decorate cookies until Friday morning. We made four different colors of icing (her choice of colors) and pulled out the Christmas sprinkles. It was pretty fun, but it took FOREVER. She took a long time on each cookie, getting it exactly how she wanted. I was getting a little frustrated but trying not to, when Jon came to the rescue. He was working and we kind of forgot he was even home, but he must have been listening to us, and he came over and made us both laugh and decorated some funny cookies in his goofy way, and made the mood light and fun again. Thanks Daddy!!! The cookies turned out pretty cute, and they tasted SO good. Way to go Quinny, your cookies looked so good!
We went down to Victoria in time for dinner, to celebrate Lois' birthday. (60 this year! A milestone! But she doesn't love to draw attention to that, so we will leave it there). We gave her a Christmas picture frame with one of Quinny's christmas pictures, and Calea/Aimee got her these super adorable shoes. After she opened hers, she pulled out these wrapped presents that she had for her granddaughters. That is how sweet, thoughtful, and just all around amazing my Mother In-Law is. Her birthday, and she's giving presents to her grandchildren. For the past 4 or 5 years or so, she has been giving Makenna a Nutcracker for Christmas. She decided that it was time to extend the tradition to Madi and Quinny this year too, and all three got Nutcrackers. I have been eagerly waiting for this day!! I knew she would do the Nutcracker tradition with the littler girls as well, I just wasn't sure when! I love it. I think it is so special that she does this, and so festive!! She gave the girls each a Nutcracker book to go along with it as well
THIS FACE! Quinnybear! You make me laugh and make me crazy all at the same time!! These two got the same Nutcracker this year - its sooo cute! It has a little present in its hand, and a snowman on its head. I can't wait to get it home and have Quinny set it up!!
MUCH BETTER! This is such a good one. This Nannie. She truly is amazing. We are so very thankful for her and the major role she plays in our lives. I could not imagine life without her. We were very happy to celebrate her and her life today!! Over the years, she has very much become a mother figure to me, even though she has her own daughters. She has also become my friend, and a confidante, someone I call when I need advice, comfort, love. She is an excellent Mom, Mother In-Law, and Nannie. We love you so very much Lois!!! Happy Birthday!!

Reading her new Nutcracker book that night. We've all read it about a thousand times since then, she loves it! I love seeing these two cuddle at night, reading together. We have a very good life, full of wonderful people who love us deeply.
