Tim called again Monday morning while Jon was at work at Camp and said that the family was all getting together for Chinese food that night (Nana always treated us to Chinese food on her birthday, she loved it). We were already planning on heading down because of our appointment Tuesday morning. I took the ovulation test that morning and it went positive! I called the clinic and they cancelled my ultrasound for the next morning, and instead booked us in the IUI. I was so relieved to be moving forward and given the green light, but also felt guilt about being excited today. Mixed emotions.
We got down there and Jon and Luke took the girls to the park to go run around and play. Quinny of course was delighted to see her cousins and play with them. Her love for them is so big!
Such a big girl, and so beautiful :)
I LOVE this one! So much joy.
Little Besties
Shapes in the sunset. Love these girls
This is the best. They are seriously the cutest little girls ever.
Tucking her baby in at Nannie's. We all gathered together that evening and it was really nice to just be together, eating Chinese food in remembrance of Nana.
They were putting together a slideshow for the memorial service, so Tim asked me to go through my pictures and send Aimee any good ones that I have of Nana. I really enjoyed going back through all my pictures and finding my favourites of her.
This was at the photo booth at Roger and Shannon's wedding Sept 2015
This was in our backyard at Quinnlyn's 1st birthday party. A mom with her youngest :) Beautiful women
It makes me sad that this picture is so blurry! This was back before Jon and I moved to the island - it was over Spring Break in my 4th year of college, and Ellen came with us for a road trip out to the coast. Nana knit me a purple afghan and this was the day she gave it to me. She told me when she handed it over that the type of wool she used was a new kind of wool, and she didn't like it because it was hard to work with, and she said she was happy with how it turned out, but that she would never do another purple one because the color was hard for her to see her stitches. To this day, it it my favorite blanket and it gets used daily. It was way softer than Quinny's and Jon's (whose are both great and gorgeous, I just like mine better :), and that must be because of the type of wool. It is also REALLY big because she did a double size, AND then she added more because she wanted to get rid of the wool that she would never use again. I was so proud this day to be getting my afghan... it felt like I really was a part of the family! She was still living in her Browning Street house and we played Phase 10. I remember this day vividly. This was at Derek and Caity's wedding in June of 2009 - two months before mine and Jon's wedding.
This was the same day, just later that night during the reception outside
Jon's college graduation in April 2009. Nana made the drive out with Tim and Lois and Aimee to be there. It meant SO much to Jon to have his Nana there to watch him walk the stage
I wish I could remember what Nana was laughing so hard at here, but it must have been good. This was such a good, joyful day, cheering for Jon.
A few months later, August 2009 at our wedding. Nana again made the drive out to the prairies with the Lampards to celebrate Jon and I on our big day.
Grandma Gladys and Nana Fay. Two of our biggest supporters and cheerleaders.
Grandma Joy and Nana Fay, with Raya and Quinnlyn, their Great Granddaughters - December 2013. Look at those happy smiles, just thrilled to be with their little granddaughters. I love it so much.
This was this past Father's Day - June 2016. We had a fancy Father's Day brunch as a family
My very favorite picture of Nana and Quinny. I remember sitting on my hospital bed and watching Jon take this - Nana had tears in her eyes, telling us how beautiful she was. She was so proud to be meeting Quinnlyn. Nana truly delighted in her grandchildren.
And these ones were from this past year - March 2016. We went down one Tuesday night to go for dinner with Nana and Calea and Aimee. These two hung out on the couch and Quinny chatted Nana's ears offAnd this was also this past year, Feb 2016 at our open house party after we bought our new house. I love love love this one. Nana dancing her with youngest. Quinny loves to dance and it makes my heart so happy that they did it together.
This was back in January of 2015. This picture is just so sweet. When I watched the completed slideshow, I totally lost it when this picture popped up. My heart just hurts so much knowing that Quinny won't get to hold Nana's hand again and that she will miss out on knowing this beautiful soul of Nana.
And this one is my very favorite one that we have. Look at the love between them. Jon adored his Nana and she loved him right back. He has been talking a lot in the past few days about how every family memory or big events, or dinners and celebrations, she is in them. He said she was always on the sidelines of his life, supporting him and loving him. I think that is so so special. She greatly impacted Jon, and he is a better man because he had her as his Nana. We remember how this past spring she came to WOA because she wanted to take our outdoor cooking class, and she loved the whole weekend. But she talked about Wildside with such pride, telling people that her grandson was the Director. She talked about wanting to come out next summer and pitch her tent and help cook in the kitchen. She was so proud of what he was doing there, and Jon loved that weekend of being able to share what he does with her a little bit. We are going to get this photo framed and hang it in our home, because it just conveys so much about their relationship.
All these photos are so special to us, and I am really glad we have them.
