We got an invite to Lisa's annual Christmas party - score! I was very pumped about going! It was full of camp 'kids' that we love! It was at Brad and Lisa's new house - they did so much work since we were there on Monday! It is really looking so good in there. These two came over from the mainland for the weekend (let's be real, they were the real pull for us going to the party, I've missed them!!!). I spent most of the night with Vanessa. So fun!
They were all so great with having Quinny around - the only kid in this group! But she played the games with us and was so well behaved. She danced for the crowd, and then sat and played the games and was a very good listener. I was very proud of my little three year old!
No Christmas party is complete without Christmas crackers!
The lovely hosts. They worked so hard to make everything perfect. And they pulled it off! Their first turkey was a big success, they did awesome :)
We were missing Marika who is off in Nigeria doing missions work and Alyssa who is still in AB for school for another week. But it was SO lovely to spend the evening with these people!! We love them all so much!
Cuties! Quinny was very happy to be spending the evening with Lisa (we all were!).
Sunday morning was concert day at church! I was on preschool today, so I got to spend the morning downstairs with them practicing and getting costumes ready. Quinny and I have been practicing her songs all week long, and she was ready! She was so excited about the whole thing. She told Lisa the day before at the party that she was singing a song by herself, so Lisa and Brad showed up at church thinking that Q was doing a solo! LOL! Not quite! Once the sermon was over, I helped bring all the kids upstairs and line up and get ready! Ady came with me, and went on the stairs for about 3 seconds (long enough to get this picture) and she was out of there
My little angel girl, ready for the show!
Once the show started, I was laughing so hard! Quinny was the LOUDEST one out there! She just belted out, and she did so great! I was so proud of her. I love her for being brave and bold. I wish our families could have seen her first performance! But she did great. And looked adorable (as did Gabe, who is right beside her!)
Such cuties!!!! Oh it was SO good! It could have been a little more organized, but that is what happens when its all volunteers and no Children's Ministry director. But they did practice lots in the past few weeks and the kids did great and the church loved it. So awesome!
After an afternoon of cleaning and re-arranging , we decided to head out to the Crofton Christmas parade. For a tiny, tiny little town, they did a good job. It was small, but very cute. Quinny loved it
It was a bit rainy, but we were bundled! It was fun!
We visited with Steve and Carrie before it started and Quinny ran around with Silas and Boaz - they even had a snowball fight (yes they found enough snow around to throw it at each other - notice Quinny's knees. She got a little dirty out there!)Warmland Church had live music playing afterwards, and they were serving hot chocolate and hot dogs! And they had a santa there with a photographer who was doing photos for free! LOVE tiny town life!! No mall, no waiting in lines, no paying a zillion dollars for the photos.. (not that we do that anyways, because of those reason!). Win win! I love these pictures of these two. The one on the right especially... it is reflective of the other side of Q's personality not often shown, which is gentle and soft. Love these two so much.
Hot chocolate! Yum
The photographer had all the photos up just a few hours later! Sweet! It totally cracked me up when I saw it - usually people dress their kids up all cute to go see Santa... Q had a toque on and dirty knees. Sigh! Can you tell my priorities?! haha. I may have said this already, I can't remember, but a few weeks ago she saw the set up for Santa at a mall and she asks about it so I tell her what happens there and she says to me "What?! Kids sit on the fake Santa man's lap?! That is weird and I do NOT want to do that!" I laughed and told her she didn't have to. But when we saw the Santa tonight (she knows its a fake) and she saw the other kids going up to him, I asked her if she wanted to, and she just stared at me, not saying no. So we got in line to see how she would do. When it was her turn, she went up there without saying a word and she let him pick her up, but she wouldn't talk to him at all. And look at how uncomfortable she looks here! (that awkward, forced, not happy fake smile haha!) I felt bad for her. WHY do we make kids do this?! It is weird. But its also just kinda fun. It was a step up from two years ago when she saw Santa for the first time and SCREAMED her head off! I'll see if I can track that pic down haha! She did great tonight, dirty knees and all :) Crofton, you are a pretty great place to live. Thanks for having fun, family oriented, free events. We appreciate it!
