After our Vancouver adventure, we spent the Saturday and Sunday at home doing home renos (i'll make a post on that soon!). I bought a new basket for our bathroom and when I walked in the door, Q claimed it and took it right to her kitchen and filled it full of food haha. I had to make a "trade" with her to get it back - I gave her a mini basket that we had and then she gave me mine back. Smart girl!
Jon did music at church on Sunday so he was up and gone super early. We slept in and were running late, so breakfast consisted of cut up apples and peanut butter in the car on the way, and a smoothie! She was pretty pumped about it, and I couldn't help but laugh when I got her out and saw her peanut butter covered face! Next time, I need to think of another healthy snack that is a bit cleaner!
Then Monday was Family Day and our church had its 4th annual Hockey and Hot Dog event! Crazy that we have been a part of this church for 4 years... time flies!! The first we we had it, Jon and Mary planned and organized it, and it is awesome to see the event stand strong. We always invite the Lampards up to spend the day with us, because its nice to have a church event that is casual for them to come to and meet "our" people. And we like spending Family Day with our family, so its great!
These two wanted to dress up in Q's dresses and made a pretty cute Elsa and Anna! All morning Q was vibrating, waiting for her cousins to get here. She loves them so much and couldn't wait to see them!
Auntie Mimi being awesome and playing with the girls - I think Makenna was coloring a picture when this was happening
Care came too, but her and Tim had to leave just after lunch because they both had to work. I love these girls. They are the best sister in laws a girl could ever ask forLuke reading to the girls. They played SO well all day with little whining from Madi and little aggressiveness from Q, which made the day so pleasant! But then at one point Q lost it because Madi was flat our ignoring her as toddler do, and she bit her so hard that she broke skin. She has never bit anyone that hard before and I was so shocked and instantly really upset. I could see on Luke's face that he was really upset too, and I just felt awful. Jon took Q upstairs and I followed. After she was done getting in trouble, her and I sat together on the floor of her room and we both cried. She looked at me at one point and said "Mama I love my Madi. I sad I bite her with my teeth". It was good for her and I to talk about that and how we need to treat people and can't hit/bite when we are upset. She knew I was upset because I was crying and she just cuddled into me and kept saying "I so sorry Mama. I so sorry", which just broke my heart. Sometimes I feel like all the Lampards see of Q when we are all together is her "bad" side and they don't see this sweet, soft side that I do. (I'm sure they do, I just so upset when these things happen because they always seem to happen when we are all together, and never when we are with anybody else). For whatever reason, Madi brings out the most aggressive side in Q unlike anyone else does. But Q also adores Madi more than anyone, and talks about her constantly and is so excited when she gets to see her. So it's my job as her mom to help her cultivate that relationship and teach her how to love Madi well and help them build a strong friendship together. We also talked about how when someone hurts her, it hurts me too because I'm her mommy and love her so much and don't like to see her in pain, and how that is the same for Uncle Luke and Auntie Care - when she hurts Madi, it hurts her aunt and uncle too. So when we came downstairs, she right away went over to Madi and said sorry and tried to hug her (Madi didn't want her to come close - I wouldn't either if I was her!!). And then she went right over to Care and said sorry to her too and Care hugged her and they talked. I liked seeing her take intiative and apologizing on her own without me prompting her. She really is soaking in everything and learning.
While all that was happening, these two were being adorable and taking selfies on the couch haha!
These two!! <3
Hockey Time!
The biting incident was a blimp that these two were able to move past and played together amazingly for the rest of the day. Their love for each other really is totally adorable. Such little sweethearts. (Now I just need to move past it. I haven't seen Luke or Care since this day and I still just feel so terrible. If someone bit Q that hard, I would be upset. Also, she has never done it before, so now how do I make sure it never happens again? I just feel uneasy about it. I love you Quinnybear but sometimes I feel like I am doing everything wrong and I just want to love you well and teach you well). Anyways, the girls spent the afternoon running around on the field with Auntie Hanna and Lois and Calea and Aimee. I love that. Makenna found some new friends and spent the afternoon running around with them. Social little butterfly!
They all left after the hockey event, and it was a really good day with them! It makes me so happy when they come up all together for things like this. It's good to see them! The Easson's invited us over for dinner so we headed there afterwards. Here is Andrew winking at me, which was pretty funny.
Quinny and Ady with Uncle JonJon, as she calls him! Andrew goes by "Eagle" (i cant really remember why?) so Q calls him Uncle Andrew Eagle, so he has started calling her "Kinny Eagle", which she finds hysterical. (we all call her "kinny" these days... its hard not to! That's what she calls herself and its hard to not mimic that). I love that we have friends like this, where our girls will grow up feeling like family.
A good family day spent with the people we do life with. So much love.
