Post Christmas Fun

Boxing Day we spent in Victoria and I went shopping with some Christmas money and bought both Quinny and I some clothing. She is growing so fast - at her birthday in August she was still wearing size 24 months. Now, she is in size 3. Her feet went from size 5 in May to now wearing a 8. Whoa! Alberta family sent a lot of gift cards so that I could shop for us, which is an awesome way to go! And I love Boxing Day shopping with all the deals! But the trick is to have a plan and know exactly where you are going, don't wander! Then you get sucked into the gross crowds. So I went shopping and got us a few things - I was missing my mom! She is the best Boxing Day shopping partner, its our tradition! But it was still a successful and quick outings, full of sweet deals! Including a NEW IPHONE! Woot!!! Mine was so frustrating with the water damage and broken buttons. I got a new iPhone 6 for less than half the normal price. Sweet! The camera is noticeably better, as you will see in my pictures! So clear.

We went for a walk in the part with Lois in the afternoon

Love this picture of them. Jon is so much like his mom - soft and thoughtful and laid back
The cutest picture of them quite possibly ever! This is the background picture on my phone :)
Super blurry because they were jumping around, but look at the joy on Quinny's face!!! I love their love for each other. Best friends!
It was fun to stay down for a few days and really enjoy family time and being together. My heart needed it. We had been staying away because life just got busy, Lois is still healing, and I just felt so fragile. So to go and spend a few days with them being festive really filled my soul. On the way home on the 27th we stopped so that Jon could get a hair cut! In the picture above with Quinny, you can see how his hair was going curly around his hat, thats how long it was! I like it like that, I think its cute when it starts to curl. But the problem is that he runs his hands through it and then by the middle of the day it stands STRAIGHT up all poofy and he looks crazy haha! And he doesn't like it long, his brother and his boss both bugged him about it haha so it was time for a cut! Back to the normal buzz cut!
Aimee had put her hair up like his in the 80's style pony tail, and she loved it and kept flipping the pony around haha. She went straight upstairs to her makeup desk when we got home to play and "get ready". When I say "Quinny look here, I want to take a picture of you" this is the face she gives me.
Then I say "you silly girl, smile for me instead! Cheese!" And she begrudgingly says "cheese" back. She does not like smiling for the camera, she would way rather make a silly face or flat out ignore me haha! It takes so much work to get her to smile nice for a picture! I love that about her though, it shows her real personality - silly and marches to her own beat.
Santa brought Quinny her makeup desk, and he brought the whole family these popcorn containers. So of course we needed to have a movie night and watch one of her new movies and try out the containers! We watched Tangled and she loved it. (the next family movie night we had, we watched Cinderella. I asked Jon how he felt that this was his life now - watching princess movies? He laughed and said he wouldn't change a thing. What a sweet, handsome liar he is :)
I brushed her hair out straight after bath time - it is SO long! In the back, it is not that far from her bum! Wow! Minutes after I did this, it bounced right back up into spiral curls. She has the best hair I've ever seen on a little girl
The downside to blogging a month and a half after the fact, is that I can't really remember everything. So here are pictures of when Jon and Quinny went to the beach on the 28th, but I don't remember why I wasn't there. How annoying! This is why I need to catch up and be better, so that I remember things and can write about it! But these pictures are cute and I am happy to share them still :)

Classic example of how she doesn't want to smile, just make a silly face haha
So then he decides to do the same. Two peas in a pod here!
He was so proud of her here, peeing outside. She was pretty pumped about it as well and proceeded to talk about it for days, telling anyone who talked to her haha
I already shared this I think? But my incredible husband gifted me with this, exactly 5 weeks since our miscarriage. We are healing and moving on, because thats the thing with life, it just keeps going and time keeps passing and you have no choice but to move with it. We talk about how we are feeling, but those talks happen less often then they used to, as time settles in and the wound isn't as fresh. But he knows that whether we talk about it or not, my heart will never forget, and neither will his. He also knows that its hard for me because while we will never forget, the world will. So he wanted me to have something to remind the world that this life was real, and impacted us and to have something tangible for me to have to wear and carry with me, outside of the scars on my heart. I appreciated that he put the due date on it, instead of the day that the baby died. The due date is a symbol of what was supposed to be, the future we had planned, a day we should have been rejoicing. If he had put the other date on there, that would be harder for me to wear, because that was the worst day I have ever lived through. While the difference to other people may seem small and not make much sense, to me it does. I was so touched by this gift, its so beautiful. And it shows once again how incredibly amazing my husband is. I say it a lot, but its just true. He is thoughtful and sensitive and kind.
Game night! She got a couple new games for Christmas - so fun that she can start to play simple games! Hopefully we will pass on our love for board games to her! Lois and Tim got her this great Sofia the First game with simple rules that she loves. And we got this - its a pack with a few different games including Dominoes and Go Fish. She caught on quick to dominos (toddler dominoes - its just matching). It was super fun!

We had a good few days at home, cleaning and putting away presents and just being home. We packed up our Christmas tree on the 28th and totally cleaned the house, because we were leaving again and knew we wouldn't want to do it when we got home! On the 29th we left and went down to Auntie Hanna's for her birthday celebration and saw the rest of the Hennekes! Auntie Hanna gave the girls their Christmas presents' - Uncle Ian made high chair for Quinny's babies as her gift!! So amazing!! It's a gorgeous chair! He is so good at wood working! Look at her face - that perfectly explains how much she loved it - she's saying here "a baby chair! For me??" and pointing to herself, unbelieving! So cute. Already that chair has got a lot of love - she puts her babies in it and pulls it up to the table at dinner time so that they can eat with us haha. It makes my heart happy that she is so loved that he would make her a special gift like this for her to cherish. What a blessed little girl she is.
