I'm These pictures aren't great, but you can get the idea! We have been working (mostly Jon in any spare time he has!) hard to fix up the office and our bathroom upstairs. The office is this makeshift room that the owners before us made out of half the garage for one of their kids. There is no window and it is so dark with a horrible florescent light. When you walk in, this is what you see - they didn't finish the drywall, instead they just stapled and glued big sheets of construction paper to it. So the first job was to pull it all down
The room was this awful yellow color that made me feel depressed walking in there. Not a good home working environment for Jon! He has been going to the church a lot more often to work, simply because this space is just pretty dreary. Time to fix that!
When we started to pull it off, that is when we discovered they had glued it and taking it off would be harder than we thought. We had to pull out all the staples (each sheet had about 10-15 staples) and then sand down all the spots with glue.
Finally we were done that part! Can you see the difference from after we filled in the holes with putty and then sanded it all down? It's not a great wall, but it is much better!
She loved it. She was right in there helping us pull things off the wall and collecting all the paper and putting it neat little piles
Time to paint! That's the same wall after one coat of paint!!! SO much better!!!! The whole room looks totally different and brighter already. Jon also switched the lights and light fixture, which he was quite proud of! It now looks much classier and not nearly as harsh! Next up is a loft bed and shelves that he is going to build! Can't wait to see this room finished! We have painted many rooms in different places we have lived before... But Jon was a right when he said that this feels so much better, pouring hours and money into a space that is our own. Love being home owners!!
Our bathroom upstairs is big and beautiful. But there is no windows in there either, and the previous owners painted it chocolate brown. It looked classy, and would be better in a big bright room, but in this room it just made it really really dark and hard to see. So I knew that we needed to brighten it upI taped it all out and did the edging and bought new bathroom towels and such, but he did the rest on the evenings that I was working! He's awesome. We painted a bright aqua, ocean coloured blue, but it was quite bright, more than we bargained for. So to tone it down a bit, we decided to put up wainscoting all across the bottom. It was a big job for him, because he had to cut around the weird edges and behind the toilet, but he did a great job!! This little monkey helped. She handed him tools as he needed them haha
It looks amazing!! So much brighter! And I am in love with the colors. This blue with purple and white accents looks so good. Yay! So happy!
Now I just want to get things for the walls... some sort of beachy picture(s) with big white chunky frames to complete the look! Thank you husband for making this happen!
