On Wednesday he went to camp as usual, and Lisa made him special birthday cupcakes! They were peanut butter themed with mini reese peanut butter cups, reeses pieces and peanut butter icing. She knows the ways to his heart haha. He doesn't love being the center of attention (unless he's running an event and has put himself at the center) because he is just so humble, that he really would rather people not make a big deal about him. So this picture made me laugh, because you can see the red tinge to his face and I knew he was embarrassed. When I asked him later, he said he was touched because it was so sweet of Lisa, but as I predicted, he was a little uncomfortable with the attention. Andy also took him out for lunch, which was so nice!
On Thursday, his actual birthday, we got up and went to the church so he could work and I went to MMO. Sharon popped by while we were there and she was bought him his favorite cinnamon buns from the best bakery around, in Ladysmith!!! What a sweet woman. I love her for doing this and for making Jon feel loved. So thoughtful. The one in the back is a peanut butter cinnamon bun and the one in the front is their classic cream cheese icing almond one. They are so delightful!!!
I made us crepes for lunch, first time ever I have made them! They turned out great - I think I would prefer crepes to pancakes! Both of these two really liked them too, yay. Q napped and Jon did more work, and then when she woke up we gave him our presents. I bought him a new 1000 piece puzzle (one of the Cobble Hill brand ones that we love), so that we can spend time together at night talking and puzzling again. It's fun for us to do that, and it's good for our relationship, we just haven't had one to work on in a long time! When we were at the Red Balloon toy store picking out the puzzle I wanted to get, Q decided that she wanted to get Daddy a puzzle too. I tried to explain to her that we were supposed to get Daddy things that he would want, not just things that she would want. She then turned to me and said "Mama! I do my puzzle with my Daddy, okay?!" How can I argue with that?! That was the same logic I had. So she picked out a kid puzzle and away we went. She also bought him gum and mini reese peanut butter cups, which I thought was so cute. We were in Walmart at the till and she says loudly "Oh! My Daddy NEEDS gum. He luss (loves) gum, it his birsday! (birthday)". She's right. So we got the gum and the candy. As soon as he opened it, he sat and did the puzzle with her, like the amazing Daddy he is. I love that he opens something that is clearly for her, a toddler puzzle, and he just rolls with it, knowing right away why she picked it out. He is the best.
She woke up from her nap with a little fever and a runny nose and kinda grouchy. We had dinner reservations later on and I was concerned that she was going to be a big grump in the restaurant. So Jon asked her if she wanted to watch Planet Earth with him and she eagerly agreed. He loves those shows, and she is starting to really love them too, and she is learning lots from it and will recite the facts she has learned about different animals. Pretty funny! Before long, though on this day, she fell asleep again which was so good - she clearly needed more sleep! She never sleeps on the couch, so we know when she does that she's not feeling great. Jon was loving the cuddles - it's the best present she could have given him haha. She slept an hour and then it was time to go for dinner!
All the Lampards (except Luke and Care who had to work) and Nana and Hanna all came up, and the Eassons came too. They are the best to have with for dinner with the family because they are easy and blend well. Q turned into a different kid than she was all afternoon, and was happy and cheerful and well behaved. Funny how they can switch like that! I told Tim and Lois when we first got there that she wasn't feeling well, but I felt like a liar haha! She sure wasn't acting sick!
This picture makes me laugh - it looks like Jons head is attached to Nanas body! Haha so funny.
Q was loving walking around and sitting with different people. She spent a lot of time with ether Mary or Calea. I love this picture of them!!
Dinner took SO long, the service was crazy slow. It was nice to talk lots and spend time together, but it was a super long time and everyone still needed to drive back down home. They have driven up island lots lately! Family Day, House Warming, and now this... We so appreciate them coming to the things that are important to us and not worrying about the hour drive. What an awesome family. I love being a Lampard, they are such special people.Best photo all night! How cute are these girls?! My goodness!!! I love them SO very much and their love for each other just melts my heart.
It was a fun night celebrating my love. He is the most gentle, kind, attentive and laid back person, and I am still so giddy about him and the fact that he loves ME. How did that happen?! How did I luck out?! God knows, and I am grateful for that! Each year that passes he becomes more settled into who he is, and more driven when it comes to work and ministry, and he is so eager to serve God. Doing life alongside you is the best gift Jon. I'm so glad you were born :) Happy Birthday Handsome. I look forward to seeing what 29 brings you!!
